This past week has given gamers a slew of news to digest. Information came flooding in every single day, from press conferences to demos to E3 floor presentations, and a lot could easily have been missed. One particularly exciting announcement of the week was out of Nintendo, which was their brand-new 3D Mario game entitled Super Mario 3D World.

While many facts have already been heard and reported about this game, one little nugget that might have slid under the radar was reported by IGN via Twitter, as seen above.

Living in the future as we are now, this announcement is not necessarily all it seems. The beloved frog suit might not actually be returning in this game, as further information hunting, particularly by the likes of Nintendo World Report, has revealed that the suit was announced as part of a joke. The presenters were apparently joking that Luigi in the cat suit looked like Mario in the frog suit from previous games, and they thought it would be funny if that suit was also incorporated in Super Mario 3D World. Therefore, this “announcement” is now more of a rumor, but it may very well come true. We will just have to wait and see.

What do you think? Do you want to hop on through Super Mario 3D World? Or are you satisfied with crawling and climbing though as a cat?

Our Verdict

Noah Cherry
My first gaming memory is watching my older brother play Donkey Kong 64 and staring at the screen in amazement. From that point on I wanted in on the fun, and it drove me to become a gamer and took me to where I am today. I am very passionate about gaming and love the opportunity I have here to use my writing skills and combine them with this passion. Nintendo has my heart, but I expand onto all platforms, owning many gaming consoles and playing a wide variety of games. My favorite game of all time is Super Mario 64, with Okami coming in as a close second. Kingdom Hearts is probably my favorite overall series of games, and Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game, although I believe Ocarina of Time to be the "best" one. I also loved Spirit Tracks. Aside from gaming, I am a student and heavily participate in Choir programs. I also participate in musicals from time to time, whether it be through stage crew or acting. For those concerned, I am a cat person, not a dog person.
