Nintendo launched Labo back in April, giving fans the ability to craft working Nintendo Switch peripherals from cardboard, including fishing poles, robot suits, musical instruments, and even motorbike handlebars. The latter is used for a Labo-specific motorbike game, but Nintendo has just released a patch to make it compatible with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Starting today you can plop the portable Switch unit into the Labo motorbike handlebars (after downloading the free update) and play the popular racer using your custom cardboard controller. Nintendo has also released a new trailer showing how it all works, and you can check it out by clicking above.
Personally, I’m a big fan of the Pro Controller, but it’s always nice to see Nintendo offering more options. Nintendo has also stated via press release that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is just the first Nintendo title to use Labo peripherals with more planned for the future. This is great news for Labo owners looking to get the most out of their investment.
