Update: Nintendo has already fixed the pricing issue. Mario Party 2 now has the correct price for all buyers.
Original: Nintendo 64 classic Mario Party 2 launched on the Wii U Virtual Console today in North America, but it currently has a pricing issue. If you already own a game on Wii Virtual Console, Nintendo typically lets you upgrade to the Wii U version for just $2 (rather than making customers pay full price again), but this option is not available for Mario Party 2. The same pricing problem plagued Majora’s Mask when it hit the Virtual Console last month, and Nintendo corrected it about a week later. Hopefully they can correct Mario Party 2‘s price quickly as well.
