Super Smash Bros. news has been trickling in very slowly over the past few months, but every now and again we get a juicy story. Today, director Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that Prince Marth, Fire Emblem‘s legendary hero of lore, will be returning for battle in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Marth’s appearance in the upcoming
Smash games has been updated to better reflect his redesign from his latest appearance in the Nintendo DS remake of Shin Monshō no Nazo. Much like other veteran fighters who have been revealed in months past, this announcement brings a whole bunch of new screenshots to the table, which you can find below.

Judging by the action shots, it seems that Marth will play with a nearly identical moveset to that of his Melee and Brawl appearances—though perhaps with a few new taunts. Furthermore, judging by the fact that he was announced so early on, I think it’s safe to say that he will probably be a starting fighter, unlocked from the beginning of the game (sorry Chrom, looks like you’ll be unlockable).
