Late last year Capcom announced plans to re-release the entire Mega Man X series on modern platforms, and today we finally have more details. Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 is officially headed to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 24th. These two bundles will contain all eight X games with updates and enhancements, plus a ton of new content.
The two bundles will split the series equally, with one taking Mega Man X through Mega Man X4 and the other taking Mega Man X5 through Mega Man X8. All eight games will come with graphical improvements, including optional filters that let you switch between high resolution and classic looks. There’s also a new boss battle mode called “X Challenge” that pits you against two bosses at once.
These collections don’t skimp on the extra content outside of games either. The Mega Man X Legacy Collection bundles come with a digital museum exploring the history of the series. That includes a gallery of concept art and other rare illustrations, a music player with both new and classic tracks, Sigma’s origin story in The Day of Σ prequel anime, and a catalog of nostalgic Mega Man X commercials and trailers. There’s also a product gallery that shows off 25 years worth of historic Mega Man X collectibles.
You can play every Mega Man X game on modern devices when these collections launch on July 24th. The two packs will be available individually as $19.99 digital downloads. Alternatively, you can buy them both in a combo pack at retail for $39.99. The Nintendo Switch version will include one cartridge and one download code in its retail combo.
