Jean Pierre Kellams, a writer employed by Platnium Games, developers of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, recently made comments via Twitter that implied a Wii U port of the game was not completely out of the question. Currently only scheduled for a mid-month release on the Xbox 360 and PS3, there have been few, if any indications that a version for Nintendo’s newest system would arrive. When asked about the chances for an eventual Wii U release, he commented that it might depend on consumer demand.

“@PG_jp jw… what are the chances of MG:R getting a WiiU release 1 day? Touch screen would be cool for finishers and other shenanigans…

@Fillytase @konami would have to see demand for it and bring us the request to port.”

In the past, Konami, the game’s publisher, has not shed much optimism on the idea of a port. Yuji Korekado, producer at Konami subsidiary Kojima Productions, told Eurogamer this past December that they were not planning for the game being on the Wii U.

“One of the strongest appeals of the Wii U is the GamePad,” Korekado said. “However, we’ve constructed Metal Gear Rising so you can fully enjoy the game on the controllers whether it’s on the PS3 or the Xbox. So, currently we aren’t thinking about Metal Gear Rising on the Wii U.”

While this statement makes it clear a Wii U version is not being worked on, it doesn’t preclude the possibility of such a thing in the future. Korekado made a similar statement earlier in the year regarding a PC version, saying that any decision would have to wait until after the game’s launch, which means that a Wii U port may receive similar consideration at a later date.
