Metroid fans were already rejoicing with the announcement of Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch and Metroid: Samus Returns for the Nintendo 3DS, and to sweeten the deal even more, Metroid Amiibo were announced during the Nintendo Treehouse segment for Samus Returns.

Both Samus Aran—in her traditional
Metroid II: Return of Samus pose—and a Metroid breaking free of its capsule will be immortalized in Amiibo form. The Metroid Amiibo even has a squishy outer shell and was tested in the Nintendo Treehouse.

The functionality for these two new Amiibo has not yet been revealed, but it was announced that the
Super Smash Bros. series Amiibo for both Samus and Zero Suit Samus will be compatible with Samus Returns too!

With the announcement of a special edition for
Metroid: Samus Returns as well, it seems like the series is finally getting the love it deserves!

Hey all! I've been a gamer since I was three. I'm one of those people with gaming so ingrained in them that watching my father play Super Mario 64 is actually my first memory I can recall. I love writing too! I'm writing an original fantasy series that takes place in another universe; it may take some inspiration from some of my favorite franchises. I've been a journalist for a few years, have worked on local and national teams, and have garnered experience assigning stories, editing, writing, interviewing, hosting a television series, running a YouTube channel, and doing other stuff that's more fun to mention in conversation. Bios can drag on. Anyway, I'm super stoked to be a part of the Gamnesia team! Thanks for having me!
