Ubisoft’s conference at E3 got off to a great start this year, with an extended look at Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, the controversial crossover game between the Super Mario series and Ubisoft’s Rabbids games. Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary creator of Mario, even came on stage to present Mario + Rabbids, marking one of the only times in recent memory that a major Nintendo executive was present at another company’s E3 conference.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle will be a tactical adventure RPG with turn-based combat. Mario and his group of his friends battle against evil Rabbids, who have been transported into the Mushroom Kingdom and have made the world unstable and chaotic. Much of the gameplay in Mario + Rabbids focuses on fighting wave after wave of enemy Rabbids in different areas. Turn-based battles will include a variety of tactics, including getting a boost from teammates to travel farther in the battlefield, hiding behind (and destroying) various types of cover, and special abilities varying by character.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle launches on Nintendo Switch on August 29th, 2017.
