Longtime rewards program Club Nintendo was dissolved last year, and Nintendo replaced it with a new membership program called My Nintendo earlier this year. My Nintendo rewards players for interacting with Nintendo software (including mobile social app Miitomo) and for buying digital games with prizes and discounts. Nintendo has previously indicated that they’ll be experimenting with various different incentives for players to see what works, and in Japan that includes giving players discounts on their birthday. It looks like Nintendo is pleased with the results in Japan, because they’ve just started doing the same in North America.

If your birthday is registered on your My Nintendo account, you should receive an email on that day entitling you to 30% off on select 3DS and Wii U games. This offer is only good for digital games, and it only remains valid through the end of the month. The list of discounted games people have been offered includes:

Wii U

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Mario Party 10
Super Mario Maker
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Yoshi’s Woolly World

Kirby Triple Deluxe
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Mario Kart 7
New Super Mario Bros. 2
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
