We first heard tell of a Mario-meets-Rabbids crossover late last year, and now it’s looking more and more like the real deal, as artwork for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle has leaked weeks before the game was likely to be officially announced at E3. Featuring a host of Mario characters and Ubisoft’s titular Rabbids dressed as the Mushroom Kingdom heroes firing lasers into the distance, the art has caused an uproar regarding the rumored 2017 title. And according to comicbook.com, Ubisoft themselves have confirmed the art is authentic and representative of an upcoming game.

The artwork originally leaked over Twitter, a tweet which was reportedly deleted. Twitter user
@FatalFlowey later shared a portion of the same image, which showed a Rabbid dressed up as Princess Peach taking a selfie. After that part of the artwork was confirmed as real, sites were allowed to share the entire piece.

Rumored to be a strategy RPG set for release for the Nintendo Switch in August of this year, more details about
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle are likely to come during Nintendo’s E3 Spotlight on June 13th. Many outlets have confirmed the game is indeed real, so it looks like it’s only a matter of time before the Mario and Rabbids universes officially collide on screen.

Mario development in the comments below!

Hey all! I've been a gamer since I was three. I'm one of those people with gaming so ingrained in them that watching my father play Super Mario 64 is actually my first memory I can recall. I love writing too! I'm writing an original fantasy series that takes place in another universe; it may take some inspiration from some of my favorite franchises. I've been a journalist for a few years, have worked on local and national teams, and have garnered experience assigning stories, editing, writing, interviewing, hosting a television series, running a YouTube channel, and doing other stuff that's more fun to mention in conversation. Bios can drag on. Anyway, I'm super stoked to be a part of the Gamnesia team! Thanks for having me!
