Nintendo has been pretty open about gameplay in the upcoming Kirby: Planet Robobot so far, however we haven’t seen any uncut videos of gameplay yet (the announcement trailer flows about as well as a clogged up drain if you go back and check it out). Fortunately, GameXplain was able to grab some footage from a live demo at Wondercon this year. They were even nice enough to upload it for our curious eyes to see! The video shows Kirby, presumably in one of the beginning worlds, facing off against the monstrous Clanky Woods, a mechanical version of the more iconic Whispy Woods, in a unique chase sequence.
In addition to Clanky Woods, the footage introduces us to a new character named Bandana Waddle Dee. This Waddle Dee, according to the tutorial pop up, acts as a StreetPass function where the more StreetPasses you collect, the better quality items he gives you. Beyond Bandana, the footage also shows off some of the fancy foreground and background plane switching, which is done simply by having Kirby jump on a special star that carries him/her inbetween the two planes. Finally, we are treated to the iconic bonus stage at the end of the level. Most likely in an effort to take full advantage of the 3DS’ 3D capabilities, the bonus stage is a cannon that fires Kirby forward through a series of clouds. Otherwise, it is the same bonus stage we know and love from the series.
