Earlier today Nintendo appointed Tatsumi Kimishima, formerly Nintendo of America President and The Pokémon Company’s Chief Financial Officer, to President of Nintendo. Following his appointment, Kimishima revealed a few nuggets of information to Japanese publication Nikkei, including the fact that he actually advised Nintendo against launching Wii U and predicted it would fail.
According to Nikkei, Kimishima (who was serving as CEO of Nintendo of America at the time), warned other Nintendo executives that Wii U would fail, claiming that it was too similar to Wii. Wii U hardware development was led by Shigeru Miyamoto, but
Miyamoto has stepped down from that role for NX. Could we be in for some big changes in Nintendo’s hardware business?
