Prepare your wallets. Nintendo is expanding their NFC program for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS with a new business codenamed NFP.

Although Nintendo has
used NFC on the Wii U already, its presence on the console has been minimal. NFP is looking to change that. The platform will work on Wii U, and a peripheral will connect to the 3DS to allow NFC technology to work on the handheld, as seen on the right. Figures can be used across both platforms.

Nintendo depicted a concept of a Mario figurine being used for numerous games. An NFP game will be at E3 2014, and many figurines will be announced alongside the new title.

Check out Nintendo’s idea of how NFP below.

I can’t wait to collect tons of little plastic Nintendo characters; however, my wallet will certainly be crying when the day arrives. How about you? Are you excited for NFP? Sound off in the comments.
