Nintendo has filed a new trademark in the United States for Eternal Darkness, an old horror game that was developed by Silicon Knights and published by Nintendo on the GameCube over fourteen years ago.

Companies renew trademarks fairly often, so this isn’t necessarily an indication that new Eternal Darkness content is coming anytime soon. After all, Nintendo filed a new trademark for this exact game in 2013. However, this new trademark is different, as it had a “1B filing,” which means that it was filed with “intent to use.” This heavily implies that Nintendo is planning to do something with the old intellectual property. Of course, we don’t know what this could be; Nintendo could be working on a sequel or a remake of Eternal Darkness for the Nintendo Switch, or the company could just be planning to launch the game on the Wii U Virtual Console.

What do you guys think? Do you remember Eternal Darkness, and do you think it’s possible that Nintendo is working on a new game in the series? Or do you think it’s something simpler, like a Virtual Console release? Sound off in the comments below!
