Pokémon GO has been out for about a week in certain parts of the world and has become an instant hit. While the rest of the world will get Pokémon GO in the near future, China might have some trouble getting the game because of one major issue: Google Maps is banned in China and Niantic uses the map service as the structure for Pokémon GO. In an interesting development, however, Twitter user ZhugeEX reports that Nintendo filed a trademark for Pokémon GO in China earlier today. Since Google Maps is banned in China, it will be interesting to see how Pokémon GO will function there. It’s a possibility that Pokémon GO will not be available in China, though, and Nintendo is just filing the trademark to protect the likeness of the game.
