Over two years ago, Nintendo revealed that their next business venture is creating “Quality of Life” devices that help improve people’s lives in fun ways. Nintendo looked to bring their expertise in the field of keeping people entertained to areas like health and fitness. They even showed off plans for one of these Quality of Life devices — a machine used to measure and improve the quality of your sleep. Nintendo planned to launch it within the fiscal year (before March 31st), but it’s been a long time since we got an update.
Following Nintendo’s third quarter investor briefing, President Tatsumi Kimishima spoke with the press, and he addressed the absence of any Quality of Life talk. Nintendo is still working on the first device, but development lag has caused it to be delayed out of its original launch window. Kimishima says the device “hasn’t reached a level where it can be sold as a Nintendo product.” Nintendo is still working on it, but we don’t have a new launch window at this time.
