Nintendo is gearing up to launch their biggest (and hopefully best) iteration of Super Smash Bros. yet, and they’re bringing back every single playable character in franchise history. Nintendo’s highly anticipated fighting game launches on December 7th, but there’s a chance that Switch owners around the world will get to try it out early.
IGN had the chance to sit down with Bill Trinen, Nintendo of America’s Senior Product Marketing Manager, at San Diego Comic-Con. During the interview, they inquired about the possibility of an online demo for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate along the same lines as ARMS or Splatoon.
“Very good question. Right now they’re focused very much on getting the game ready, but we have a few other things we’ll be talking about kind of down the road between now and when it launches in December, so we’ll hopefully have some news on that as we get closer to launch.”
— Bill Trinen
Trinen stopped short of confirming a demo or Global Testfire event, but his answer seems to indicate that Nintendo does indeed have something in the works. Trinen was also asked about the possibility of DLC, but he largely just reiterated his past comments. Nintendo and the Smash team are focused on development right now, and any future DLC will be up to series creator Masahiro Sakurai.
