Nintendo has been holding a lot of public events lately, especially for the Smash Bros. series, and they’ve just announced a new tournament for Japan with a twist. Starting March 14, tournaments will be held at various video game and toy stores, but not between actual players. Instead, participants will enter their Amiibo figurines into the competition.

Tournaments are limited to 16 participants at a time (but each store location will hold multiple tournaments), and all battles will take place in 8-Player Smash. The winner of each tournament will receive a free Amiibo, while all participants will receive an A4-sized clear file as well. Would you like to see official Amiibo tournaments held outside of Japan?
