As promised, Nintendo unveiled their E3 plans today. Like last year, Nintendo will hold a digital event, much like a Nintendo Direct, rather than an actual press conference. The Nintendo Digital Event will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 9:00 am Pacific, just before the E3 show floor opens. During E3, the Nintendo Treehouse team will be streaming from the E3 show floor as well. But before that, Nintendo is kicking off E3 by hosting the Nintendo World Championships for the first time in 25 years!
Back in 1990, Nintendo held a series of video game competitions across 29 cities. The event, which saw people competing in Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris, was known as the Nintendo World Championships, and a special NES cartridge was made specifically for it. Nintendo will be holding a similar competition this year on Sunday, June 14.
Additionally, Best Buy will be demoing Mario Maker at various locations across the country following E3. These events will happen on Wednesday, June 17 from 4-9 pm and on Saturday, June 20 from noon to 5 pm.
