Virtual reality has been a hot topic in the video game industry lately, with multiple major companies debuting virtual reality devices in 2016. One company that has stayed out of the fray thus far is Nintendo. Although Nintendo executives are
keeping an eye on how virtual reality is evolving, they feel that in its current state, it just isn’t fun.

Earlier today, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed that the company is currently
looking at virtual reality, but he didn’t share any details or give us any clue as to how seriously Nintendo is investigating the technology. However, he later elaborated a little when questioned by Takashi Mochizuki of the Wall Street Journal. Kimishima confirmed that he’s “interested” in virtual reality (in the sense the head of any video game company would be interested in the tech), but that Nintendo isn’t planning any virtual reality ventures in the future, because more time and effort is needed to assess technology.
