Many Nintendo fans were blown away by Super Mario Odyssey when it was revealed on Friday. The game will borrow elements from the older 3D Mario games that were heavier on exploration. After its reveal, producer Yoshiaki Koizumi shared some more details about Super Mario Odyssey.

The game will follow Mario as he travels across a “certain Earth” in a hat-shaped flying ship. In the forest areas, the developers are trying to use beautiful lighting techniques with the trees and the grass. On the desert levels, the player can explore a gigantic tower from both outside and inside. With the urban city, Mario can jump from the top of a skyscraper to the ground, and he can even jump on the citizens.

Koizumi says that the development of Super Mario Odyssey is nearly complete, but there is no demo at the Nintendo Switch reveal event since the game doesn’t come out until this Holiday season. What do you guys think of the game so far? What gameplay mechanics would you like to see? Let us know in the comments below!

Our Verdict

Adam Sherrill
Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
