Prior to his tragic death last year, former Nintendo President Satoru Iwata had been pushing for Nintendo to create a series of “Quality of Life” devices, including a machine that monitors your sleeping habits. After a lengthy period of silence, Nintendo officially delayed the release of this device, then later suggested that it may be scrapped altogether.
Earlier this year, Nintendo
altered its Articles of Incorporation, adding “Development, manufacturing and sale of medical devices and health devices” to its General Provisions. As many have speculated, this change was done to reflect Nintendo’s Quality of Life plans. Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed this to Nintendo’s shareholders, clarifying that the line was “added in anticipation of future business expansion.”
