One of the key selling points of Nintendo Wii U (as well as DS and 3DS) is the “two screen experience.” Wii U’s GamePad can be used in tandem with a TV screen for a variety of gameplay options and non-gaming functions. Nintendo’s next console, Nintendo Switch, is a hybrid device that serves as both a home console and a handheld, and some of you have been asking if the portable component can be used as a second screen like the GamePad.
This did not seem to be the case based on the reveal trailer, and now we have official clarification on the topic from Nintendo. Speaking with Polygon, Nintendo officials confirmed that there will be no two screen experience on the upcoming console. Their official statement is that Nintendo Switch “is dedicated to deliver a single-screen experience, on whatever screen you might choose.”
