Nintendo Switch Online, the hybrid platform’s planned paid online service, finally has a definitive launch period of September 2018. After its unveiling alongside the system during the Nintendo Switch Event last year, the paid service was previously expected to launch last fall before an untimely delay to sometime this year.

Once it goes live, NSO subscribers will have exclusive access to features such as online multiplayer and the dedicated smartphone app, which are both free for all users at this point in time. Additional benefits include special eShop deals and the “Classic Game Selection” (name pending), where subscribers can “download a compilation of classic titles with added online play, such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight and Dr. Mario.” The price for a NSO subscription is certainly an attractive one, as a 12-month membership will only cost the consumer $19.99 USD—more than half off the price of their competitors.
