A few months ago we wrote about a fan animation project by YouTuber Hat-Loving Gamer that featured 101 different characters from all across the gaming world racing in Mario Kart. From Nintendo to SEGA characters, the scope of the animation was impressive, but apparently not impressive enough for Nintendo to leave it alone. As you can now see in the above link, Nintendo has recently filed a take-down claim against the video for copyrighted materials. It’s been debated whether Nintendo was in the right for this, as the amount of characters and the fun absurdity of it could be considered a parody, which is legally protected. I personally hope that this will be the last time a project is shut down before Nintendo realizes the difference between IP protection and hurting fan relations.
