Nintendo Wants the Metroid-Inspired Axiom Verge On One of Its Platforms

It’s been over a decade since Nintendo released a new 2D Metroid, but the Metroid-inspired indie title Axiom Verge is a pretty impressive substitute. Axiom Verge is similar enough in style that even Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime took notice of it at E3 last year, and Nintendo’s former indie boss, Dan Adelman, worked closely with developer Tom Happ to promote it. So far, Axiom Verge is only available on PlayStation 4 and Steam (with a Vita version on the way), but Nintendo is hoping to change that.

Speaking with Game Informer, Adelman was asked if he had been contacted by Nintendo regarding
Axiom Verge.

“They’ve been nothing but great. They’ve been congratulatory. I’m going to go out to lunch with a couple of my old coworkers sometime next week. They’d like to have it on a platform, so that’s something we want to work towards.”
— Dan Adelman

It certainly would be great to see this fantastic Nintendo-inspired game come to a Nintendo console. Would you like to see it on 3DS, Wii U, or both?
