Nintendo is getting ready to launch
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Nintendo Switch this December, but you don’t necessarily have to wait that long to try it out. It’s been available to play at events like E3 and Gamescom in recent months, as well as at special events at select Best Buy stores. Now Nintendo is reaching out once again, this time to get the game in the hands of college students.

Nintendo announced today that they are teaming up with Wendy’s College Tailgate Tour, the “largest traveling fan experience in college football,” to bring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to colleges across America during football games. Demo stations will be set up in trailers parked in designated tailgating areas just outside of major college football stadiums. Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, sees this as a perfect opportunity to reach out to fans who grew up playing the original Smash and are now in college.

“Many of our biggest fans are now in college and have memories growing up playing one of the games in the Super Smash Bros. series. We want to bring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate directly to longtime and first-time players, and what better way than to combine two of college students’ favorite pastimes: video games and football.”
— Doug Bowser
