It’s been nearly two years since the late Satoru Iwata first began talking about an upcoming quality of life initiative, or QOL. Details on the upcoming project have been few and far between, and Nintendo’s been silent on the issue for so long that some analysts believe their plans have been cancelled. According to recently-appointed Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima, this is not the case.
When asked about their QOL plans, Kimishima referred to the one device that Nintendo had previously revealed (for use in monitoring and improving sleep quality), and stated that “the quality of life initiative is still under development.” Unfortunately, he didn’t share any other details. Nintendo had previously planned to launch their first QOL device by March 2016, but this may no longer be the case.
“Mr. Iwata had, when he previously talked about the quality of life initiative, I believe he had talked about it being related to sleep and fatigue. And the only information I really have now is to say that the quality of life initiative is still under development, and I have no further information to share. It’s just not at the point in development where I feel I can make any announcements at this time.”
