Sorry Aussies; looks like another great third party Wii U title won’t be
coming your way.  Although a press release sent to media today
regarding the game’s pre-order DLC incentives, and until this week was
listed on various local Australian game distributors websites, The
Walking Dead: Survival instinct will not be released on the Wii U in
Australia.

It started last year with 007 Legends, which also wasn’t released onto
the Wii U, and though, as any Wii U user can tell you, it’s not unusual
for incentives to skip the newest Nintendo system, it’s certainly
unusual for games to skip the console completely.

Last night Activision released this quote:

“As with every game release, publishers decide which platforms to
release based on customer demand. Unfortunately it wasn’t there for the
Wii U SKU on The Walking Dead.”

However, there is a history of
Australia not releasing or only releasing heavily modified versions of
mature titles; no word as of yet whether this is a possible censorship
issue.  Which would definitely be a shame, given the trailer that was just released on Friday.  So bad news if you’re in Australia; the rest of us can look forward to playing it on our Wii U’s starting March 19th.
