Blizzard is cracking down on rude and unsportsmanlike phrases in Overwatch, targeting players who comment “gg ez” within the chats. The phrase is shorthand for “good game, easy,” and it is usually used to insult and belittle opponents after you deliver them a crushing defeat. Now, however, typing it in the chatbox instead pushes out a different, unexpected response.
There are a number of different phrases that Blizzard now automatically replaces the phrase with, giving some hilarious results that run completely counter to what the speaker intends to say. Here are just a handful of examples:
- I feel very, very small… please hold me…
- It’s past my bedtime. Please don’t tell my mommy.
- I’m wrestling with some insecurity issues in my life but thank you for playing with me.
- I’m trying to be a nicer person. It’s hard, but I’m trying, guys.
Of course, there are ways to get around this new feature, if you really want to continue adding insult to injury. For instance, the new phrases only activate if you type “gg ez” together; typing “gg” and “ez” in separate messages won’t give you anything embarrassing.
