In a recent update, Niantic made a few changes to eggs in Pokémon GO. Probably the most crowd-pleasing change is that Eevee will now spawn from a five-kilometer egg as opposed to a ten-kilometer egg. This means that players will no longer have to suffer through the frustration of walking 6.2 miles and hatching the fairly common, normal-type fluff ball. This update also made it so that Pidgey and Rattata, some of the most common Pokémon in the game, are no longer possible as egg spawns.

Alongside this change, Niantic also announced via Twitter that players “may encounter other Pokémon where Pidgey, Rattata, and Zubat were previously more commonly found.” This change indicates that potentially rarer or higher-tier creatures will now be available to those who previously couldn’t find them. Niantic has confirmed that there are no other changes to the egg line-up, which means that no Pokémon has taken Eevee’s place in the ten-kilometer tier.
