Large video game corporations often earn half of their sales and profits in the last six weeks of the year, making the holiday season incredibly important. With 2015 in the rear view mirror, Sony has released a sales report (highlighting sales numbers as of January 3rd, 2016) that shows great holiday numbers for PlayStation 4, as well as a fantastic lifetime total.

Sony sold another 5.7 million PlayStation 4 consoles at the end of the year, bringing the popular system’s lifetime total up to an impressive 35.9 million. Additionally, Sony reports that over 35 million pieces of software were sold during the holiday season and that PlayStation Plus subscriptions rose 60% compared to the same time period last year.
