The NPD Group has released its report for the month of May, highlighting hardware and software sales data in the US. The initial report did not clarify what the highest-selling piece of hardware was for the month, but Sony has since confirmed that PlayStation 4 once again took the top spot on the charts.

Overall, hardware sales declined compared to last year. Hardware generated $137.7 million in revenue, which is down 10% from $153.1 million in 2015. Sony (and possibly Microsoft as well) will be looking to boost those slumping numbers with new hardware models in the future, though we
may not hear any news until after E3.
