Last week, industry insider Emily Rogers came forward saying that Nintendo, as many have come to suspect, is indeed bringing Zelda U to their upcoming platform, the NX. But that’s not all, as the game will not only feature full voice acting for most of its characters, but the option between a male Link and a female playable Hero.

This was one of the talking points on
this week’s episode of Nintendo Week, our Nintendo-themed podcast here at Gamnesia, where we took it to the Gossip Stone to see if it’s a rumor to be believed. Check out the discussion video above for our full thoughts on the concept and why we think it’s true, or keep reading below for a brief, brief summary.

We all think there’s very good reason to believe the rumor is true through and through. The subject of
Zelda NX has already been discussed to death, but in addition the voice acting and gender options have both been signaled recently in the series with Hyrule Warriors and its 3DS counterpart. Furthermore, it’s “oddly suspicious,” as Alex puts it, that it’s been nearly two years since we first saw Zelda U and we still haven’t seen the slightest glimpse at any characters besides Link (although to be fair, we haven’t seen the slightest glimpse at much of anything). Whatever the case, we think every part of this rumor would be a good decision on Nintendo’s part if it turns out to be true.

Colin McIsaac
I first played Donkey Kong Country before even turning three years old, and have since grown into an avid gamer and passionate Nintendo fan. I started working at Zelda Informer in August 2012, and helped found Gamnesia, which launched on February 1, 2013. Outside of the journalism game, I'm an invested musician who loves arranging music from video games and other media. If you care to follow my endeavors, you can check out my channel here: http://youtube.com/user/pokemoneinstein I was rummaging through some things a while back and found my first grade report card. My teacher said, "Oddly enough, Colin doesn't like to write unless it's about computers or computer-type games. In his journal he likes to write about what level he is on in 'Mario Land,' but he doesn't often write about much else." I was pretty amused, given where I am today. Also I have a dog, and he's a pretty cool guy. I don't care for elephants much. I suppose they're okay. You've read plenty now; carry on.
