Nintendo has just recently announced that Pokémon Bank, an app for the Nintendo 3DS which allows players to transfer and store Pokémon online, will be available in the 3DS eShop on December 27th.

Players that own the upcoming Pokémon X and Y will have the ability to store up to 3,000 Pokémon in the bank. The app will also come with the Poké Transporter, which can move Pokémon from Pokémon Black and White and Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 into the player’s bank. From there, the user can then move them into Pokémon X and Y.

The app will cost the user an annual fee of $4.99. There is no additional cost for the Poké Transporter app, but it will not be available separately, as it requires Pokémon Bank to run. The cost will be going toward management and maintenance of the servers for the app, but users can receive a free 30 day trial period if purchased by January 31, 2014.
