Pokémon GO launched in 2016 to record-shattering numbers, uniting hundreds of millions of players around the world in a common mission. Inevitably this popularity eventually dipped, and it’s become somewhat popular to declare the game “dead” online. This couldn’t be further from the truth. According to the latest mobile industry data, Pokémon GO is the most popular it has been since 2016.
According to stats gathered by Superdata Research, Pokémon GO generated an incredible $104 million in May alone. Because the game requires players to spend so much time outdoors revenue is always higher in the warmer months, but this figure actually represents a 174% increase over May 2017 profits. Despite being two years old, Pokémon GO is currently the fourth most profitable mobile game in the world.
The upcoming Switch games, Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!, will allow you to transfer Pokémon captured in GO to your Switch. As the Summer rolls on and we learn more about the Let’s Go games, Pokémon GO could become even more popular.
