Pokémon Direct packed several major announcements into eight minutes, but one that will undoubtedly get older fans of the franchise excited is the confirmation that Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version are on their way to the 3DS Virtual Console! The Gen II classics have always ranked high on fan lists of the best generations, as they introduced numerous new Pokémon, features, and a world that tied directly into the Kanto region of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow.
The new rereleases of these titles are said to have “recaptured all the fun of those original Game Boy Color games,” and they will be compatible with Pokémon Bank, allowing you to transfer creatures from the second generation up into future games of the series. Wireless trading and battling will also be available thanks to the 3DS. Pokémon Gold and Silver will be launching on Virtual Console on September 22nd, so we only have a few more months to wait until we get to experience the Johto region all over again!
Are you excited to see these games finally arrive on Virtual Console? Or are you too busy wondering why
Pokémon Crystal Version seems to be getting left out of all this? Let us know in the comments!
