Pokémon Sun & Moon’s New Poké Finder Feature Lets You Photograph Pokémon in Certain Spots

As promised, The Pokémon Company released a new trailer for Pokémon Sun and Moon this morning, revealing mysterious new creatures called Ultra Beasts, a team of Pokémon-loving philanthropists called The Aether Foundation, a new day and night mechanic, and more. The latest trailer also revealed some new features in the upcoming 3DS games, the most notable of which is the Poké Finder.

Throughout the Alola region, you’ll be able to find designated Poké Finder Photo Spots. Here, you can whip out the Poké Finder (it’s part of your Rotom Dex) and scan the area for Pokémon to photograph. Pictures you’ve taken will be evaluated, and as you take better pictures, you’ll unlock more Poké Finder features, like the ability to zoom. It’s not quite
Pokémon Snap, but it’s a nice nod to the classic game inside of a main series game.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will launch worldwide on November 18th for Nintendo 3DS. If you’re already sure you want to explore the Pokémon-filled world of Alola, Amazon lets you preorder Pokémon Sun right here and Pokémon Moon right here. You can also preorder the games’ official strategy guide and its hardcover collector’s edition at the respective links.
