Pokéxplosion – New Game Trailer, Localization, New Features and Pretty Screenshots

UPDATE: Even more screenshots and artwork pieces have come out, revealing the look of the Pokédex and more! It has been added to the gallery, so be sure to check it out!

Following what was revealed last Saturday in the popular Japanese CoroCoro magazine, The Pokémon Company has now announced the US names of the latest Pokémon, along with an amazing gameplay trailer and a bunch of pretty screenshots including the boxart, showing some new features that will appear in the game. First of these is, you can sit on a bench. Yes, you can finally sit on a bench. It’s a nice addition to the game, and one nobody expected. And you get a nice view of your surroundings too.

Gogoat, the Grass-type Pokémon revealed last Saturday, will remain Gogoat in the English versions. It has a nice ring to it, so why not? And you can’t get a clearer name for a goat. Elikiteru, the Electric/Normal-type shall now be known as Helioptile, and Yayakoma, the Normal/Flying Pokémon will now be called Fletchling while Yancham, the fighting panda will be called Pancham. It looks like it’s name is based on the words panda and champion, making it a panda champion. It certainly has the attitude that goes with it. The Karos region has been localized as the Kalos region, and the biggest city, once called Miare City will be called Lumiose City. It’s the central city of the region, and many roads extend from the big tower in the center of the city. The Kalos Pokédex will be divided into three parts, the Central Kalos Pokédex, the Coastal Kalos Pokédex, and the Mountain Karos Pokédex. If a region needs three separate Pokédexes it must be a huge region. Lots of exploring!

Riding your Gogoat looks amazing. There are many details in the city, and your player character can turn his/her head while walking past shops, making everything look that much more alive. The battles look great, and the fighting animations have never been better. Even Bubble with its 20 base power looks badass. Game Freak also finally included the ability to walk diagonally. I guess those benches you can sit on are now some sort of viewpoint, where you can look at the amazing surroundings, just like in Skyward Sword with its impressionistic painting-like backgrounds. And may I say that Fletchling using Flame Charge looks amazing? It’s very impressive. Game Freak showed some of its best work today.

In the screenshots we get a clear look at the character customization feature. It looks like you can in fact only use three preset versions of the player character, as opposed to making one yourself. It’s still a welcome addition, but I would have liked it if I had been able to customize more. But luckily it was revealed you can accessorize and get new outfits for your trainer! The new trainer challenge screen looks amazing as well. I encourage you to check the screenshots and see for yourself!

I am even more excited for the game now. Are you excited? Share in the comments!
