Pokkén Tournament DX for Nintendo Switch got its own Nintendo Treehouse segment, which featured a lot of the new additions coming to the game. Most notable among them is undoubtedly the new, exclusive character Decidueye from Pokémon Sun and Moon and the four characters who have made the jump from the arcade version to come consoles.

As a flying owl with an eye for archery, one might imagine that Decidueye has a lot of moves and attributes that make him unique, and they would not be wrong. Not only is it able to float in the air for a significant amount of time for Pokkén standards, but it also have a move which, if pulled off right, can prevent the other fighter from using their support Pokémon.

Decidueye is hardly the only brand new addition to the DX version, of course. More Sun and Moon representatives—Litten and Popplio to be exact—join the ranks of support Pokémon in Pokkén Tournament DX. They both go on the offensive for their fighters, using Fire Fang and Bubblebeam respectively. The Nintendo Switch port will also feature new stages such as a beach area called Thalia Beach and a snow-covered arena called Snow Gift.

Pokkén Tournament DX is also going to feature new modes. A new online mode titled Group Matches will allow players to form groups of up to 100 people and freely join up within that group whenever anyone wants a good fight.

There is also a 3-on-3 mode that lets anyone choose up to three Pokémon to fight with. Just like a Pokémon battle, once one fighter is knocked out, the next one comes into play until one trainer no longer has any of his or her Pokémon left standing. The competition will not even be able to suspect what Pokémon the other trainer chooses in this mode, because a separate screen is used for character selection through button presses.

Are the new additions to Pokkén Tournament DX enough to warrant another purchase? Or, if you have not yet played this fighting game, are you willing to give the most complete package a go? Let us know what new mode and character you are most excited to play in the comments below!

Hey all! I've been a gamer since I was three. I'm one of those people with gaming so ingrained in them that watching my father play Super Mario 64 is actually my first memory I can recall. I love writing too! I'm writing an original fantasy series that takes place in another universe; it may take some inspiration from some of my favorite franchises. I've been a journalist for a few years, have worked on local and national teams, and have garnered experience assigning stories, editing, writing, interviewing, hosting a television series, running a YouTube channel, and doing other stuff that's more fun to mention in conversation. Bios can drag on. Anyway, I'm super stoked to be a part of the Gamnesia team! Thanks for having me!
