Sony just finished showing off their new 4K and HDR-compatible console, the PlayStation 4 Pro, but it turns out that a High Density Range experience won’t be exclusive to their new line of consoles. In the course of the meeting, they announced that a new firmware update is coming next week which will add HDR compatibility to all PS4 models, going as far back as the first consoles sold in 2013! This will allow all Sony consoles to output their visuals with a greater range of luminosity, allowing for more visually complex and impressive images. According to Andrew House, HDR will be so integral to the PlayStation brand that they wanted it on all of their consoles in the future.
