In a recent interview with TV personality Katie Linendoll, Reggie Fils-Aime dropped a huge hint about the future of Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch. Although he didn’t explicitly say that a Super Smash Bros. game will be released on Nintendo Switch anytime soon, he more or less confirmed that Smash will eventually make its way onto the console, telling fans that they can anticipate the game “at some point in the future.” As Super Smash Bros. is one of Nintendo’s best-selling franchises, along with Mario and The Legend of Zelda, the company tries to release at least one Smash Bros. game on every one of its platforms.

Here’s Reggie’s full statement regarding Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch:

“Smash is obviously one of our best-selling franchises. What we say is that the philosophy that Nintendo has from a development standpoint is that for every platform, we want to have at least one [each] of our classic franchises. There’s gonna be one great Super Mario experience, there’s gonna be great Zelda experience. So you can expect, you can anticipate at some point in the future, who knows when, that all of our franchises will be addressed. We know that the fans love these games, love this content, so stay tuned.” — Reggie Fils-Aime

Of course, even though this heavily suggests that Smash will be coming to the Switch at some point in the next few years, we have no idea what it’ll look like. It’s possible that Nintendo is planning to release an all-new Super Smash Bros. game on the console, but it’s also possible that Nintendo is simply planning an enhanced re-release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, similar to the upcoming Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

What do you guys think? Do you suspect that the Switch will be getting an entirely new Smash game? When do you think we can expect to see this game? Let us know in the comments below!
