In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime talks about the Wii U and why specifically consumers should make the investment decision to purchase Nintendo’s most recent console.
Fils-Aime states that when an individual makes the choice to play their Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo ultimately wins in the market place.
Mario Kart 8 and Bayonetta 2, Fils-Aime makes the point that even though the market is heavily diverse and continuing to grow more diverse, Nintendo manages to stay competitive because they’re able to “attract a broad range of players”.
Throughout the interview, Fils-Aime refers to other games and many statistics in order to highlight the Wii U as well as the Nintendo 3DS, and he also effectively respond to questions that individuals who might not yet own one of those systems would have.
The Wii U is Nintendo’s generation-eight console that released back in late 2012. Since the console’s release, it’s garnered this reputation of not holding up to the previous Wii and has been lowly compared to Sony’s and Microsoft’s generation-eight consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively.
Make sure to check out the interview below! Even if you own a Wii U and/or a Nintendo 3DS already, it’s interesting to see how Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime himself tackles the challenge of persuading the consumer market.
