In a recent interview with GameSpot, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé discussed the recent release of EarthBound Beginnings, as well as the potential for a translated release of Mother 3 in the future. According to Reggie, Nintendo knows that fans have a lot of love for the EarthBound/Mother series; he stated that releasing EarthBound Beginnings and making it immediately available on the eShop was Nintendo’s way of catering to fans. As for Mother 3, Reggie stated that he does get plenty of requests for the title, and that “we’ll see what happens.” Here’s Reggie’s full statement:
“Look, we know the love that our fans have for that franchise [EarthBound] and that series, and we thought that making the announcement and making it immediately available through the eShop was a great way to service that fan love. In terms of where we go from here, again, I’ve got nothing to announce, but the little skit we did at last year’s Digital Event where I’m constantly being asked about Mother 3, it happens, right, it happens. So we know the love is there, and we’ll see what happens.” — Reggie Fils-Aimé
What do you guys think? Could we be seeing a Western release of Mother 3 at some point in the future? Sound off in the comments!
