Virtual Reality has been a big focus for a lot of companies at this year’s E3, with Microsoft announcing partnerships with Oculus VR and Valve VR during the show and Sony showing off Project Morpheus during their press conference. However, apparently Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has not been impressed. In a recent interview with Polygon, Reggie stated that he believes that, to be successful with VR, it has to be fun and social; based on what he’s seen to date, he doesn’t believe that the current tech is either of those things.
Here’s what Reggie had to say about VR:
“We have knowledge of the technical space, and we’ve been experimenting with this for a long, long time. What we believe is that, in order for this technology to move forward, you need to make it fun and you need to make it social.
“I haven’t walked the floor, so I can’t say in terms of what’s on the floor today, but at least based on what I’ve seen to date, it’s not fun, and it’s not social. It’s just tech.”
