According to fan translations of a report from Nikkei, Nintendo will be developing a new title in the board game-styled Momotaro Dentetsu series of video games, set to launch next year. The property, which is currently owned by Konami, was originally created by future Mario Party developers Hudson Soft. Momotaro Dentetsu‘s gameplay has been described as similar to Monopoly or the traditional Japanese board game sugoroku. This is a surprise move from Nintendo, a company which hasn’t been known to develop with other companies’ properties. Many fans hope Konami might also license Hudson Soft’s classic Bomberman series to Nintendo.
New Momotaro Densetsu game has instead been licensed out to Nintendo for release next year. Konami only interested in licensing fee.
