Report: Nintendo Switch Cartridges Will Have a Standard Capacity of 16 GB at Launch

0

Nintendo’s upcoming hybrid console, Nintendo Switch, works as both a home console and a handheld, but it takes after the latter when it comes to physical games. Rather than playing discs, Nintendo Switch will use cartridges like Nintendo’s handhelds. Nintendo hasn’t stated how much these cartridges will hold, but Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki claims to have the scoop.

According to Mochizuki, the “standard capacity” for Nintendo Switch cartridges is 16 GB. This seems like a rather small number (Wii U discs can hold up to 25 GB), but this is only said to be the “standard” size, and presumably there will be other options available to developers. Eurogamer has previously reported that the standard size for Nintendo Switch cartridges (back when it was still only know as NX) will be 32 GB.
