Earlier this year, DigiTimes reported that Nintendo would begin initial production of NX, their upcoming video game device, in October 2015. Mass production was then expect to kick off in May, with Nintendo reportedly expecting to ship 20 million devices in one year.
DigiTimes has now released a follow-up, and a few things have changed. According to the latest report, NX mass production will begin at the end of the first quarter of 2016. This would put the starting point for NX mass production in March or April, unless they are referring to Nintendo’s fiscal 2016, in which case the start date for mass production would be in June or July.
Additionally, DigiTimes reports that Foxconn will be manufacturing NX, which is a fairly safe assumption from a historical perspective. While Nintendo is reportedly expecting to ship 20 million units, DigiTimes claims that suppliers are estimating shipments of 10-12 million units instead.
