Fans have been asking Capcom to revisit Leon and Claire’s escape from Raccoon City in Resident Evil 2 for years, and they finally gave in. The result was a smash hit that was widely praised by fans and reviews alike. Despite being a remake, many already see Resident Evil 2 as an early front-runner for 2019’s Game of the Year, and early sales figures have been equally positive.
According to the latest numbers from Capcom, the
Resident Evil 2 remake has shipped out over 4 million copies. That includes digital sales and physical shipments to retail. The remake was sitting at 3 million shipments as of January 29th, which means another million units have been downloaded and/or shipped out over the past month. This puts it less than a million units behind the original Resident Evil 2 and closing in fast.
In celebration of reaching this impressive milestone, Capcom held a round table event with several of the game’s developers. The group discusses some of the behind-the-scenes development of the remake over a nice meal. You can check it out by clicking below!
