League of Legends teams Renegades, Team Impulse (TiP) and Team Dragon Knights (TDK) have all been banned from sanctioned tournaments by Riot Games due to management infractions. TiP, which competes in the North American Championship Series (LCS), has been banned due to payment disputes between management and players and a lack of written contracts for players. Management has been given a grace period during which the team’s current roster and LCS berth may be sold, allowing the players to remain in the Summer tournament.
Meanwhile, former LCS team TDK and Challenger Series team Renegades have been banned following a prior ruling against manager Chris Badawi. Badawi had previously been put on suspension for trying to sign a player under contract with a different team. Current Renegades/Dragon Knights owner Christopher Mykles (better known as shoutcaster MonteCristo) knowingly went against Riot’s ban and continued to involve Badawi in team dealings. Badawi has been permanently banned by Riot and Mykles has been given a year suspension, while a similar grace period will allow the team’s current roster to continue under new management.
